Thanks Brothers: pine, breech, sapele woods, plywood, brass, aluminium, copper, glass. 225×113 cm.
Year 2012.
Over the years, I have enjoyed a lot of music genres, voices, instruments, etc. They all come from a special way to do it and to feel it.
And so this work is an appreciation, a small tribute:
On both bottom sides, several people representing those nations that were enslaved by big fortunes that became huge sufferings.
And they attenuated it singing…
On the horizon there are some lines in the sky: a stave. The slave ships approach and are converted to musical notes.
Again, it spreads into an ascending sky with several instruments such as banjo, guitar, horn, and an extended wing as a symbol of the spirituality of first singings.
On the left there is a choir singing. They are very dedicated with supreme sentiment. People of every conditions with a smooth, ripped voice, who deliver their soul on every chorus, on every verse, using true cadence and rhythms…
There are some piano keys on the right side on the stairs. Above it there is a stave and some music notes…
On the top, the black soul sings while raising her arms and using her cape and skirt to cover all the environment.
That includes the big contributions of the sine and universe: black spiritual, jazz, gospel, soul, blues, etc.
The small pieces of glass are a mass of music notes. The wood cubes that are scattered around all the work, are simplified music notes like in the old musical annotation.
